Development of Badminton sport

In 18th century, we already know that Badminton game was introduced in India and created by the military officers there which is called as Battledore and Shuttlecock. There is where the Badminton started to been develop until nowadays and become the popular sport game around the world.

The story ~ ~

About the same century, in the late of 1860s, there are British Army officers in Poona(Pune) India, introduced the game named Battledore and shuttlecock. They make an innovation of the game, by adding a net to make the game become more interesting and entertaining. As the game was popular in Poona(Pune), the Battledore's name was changed to 'Poona'.

At the same time, the Duke of Beaufort, a non-military guest was entertaining the soldiers at his estate which was called 'Badminton House'. That was a place for the soldiers to play 'Poona'. Duke of Beaufort was the one that named the Badminton game as 'Badminton' that already used until now.

In 1877, The Bath Badminton Club was the first Badminton club that transcribed the rules of Badminton game for the first time. After that, in 1893, followed by the Badminton Association of England, they published the first proper set of rules that similar as today rules. It is also officially launched Badminton in a house called 'Dunbar' at 6 Waverly Grove, Portsmouth, England on September 13.

Then, they also set up the All England Open Badminton Championship which is the first Badminton competition in the world in 1899.

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) was established in 1934 followed by Canada, Denmark, England, France, Netherlands, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales as their members. India joined a bit late after in 1936 as an affiliate. The BWF now controlled the international Badminton and developed the sport globally.
